Eligibility & status
Do I need to be a Canadian citizen to use your services?
No. We work with permanent residents, work-permit holders, international graduates, refugees and refugee claimants. Citizenship is never a requirement.
I don't have status yet — can you help me apply?
We can refer you to RCIC-licensed immigration consultants and free clinics. We don't provide immigration advice ourselves, but we make sure you reach someone qualified.
Is your support free?
Yes — every newcomer service is funded by employer and government partners. There are no fees, ever.
Work & credentials
How long until I find work?
Most newcomers in skilled roles secure their first interview within 14 days of arrival and a job offer within 60 days.
Will my international credentials be recognized?
Most are, sometimes with a bridging step. Our credential team works in 40+ regulated professions — see /newcomers/credentials for the pathway in your field.
Can I work while my credentials are being assessed?
In many cases yes — in adjacent or assistant roles that don't require the regulated designation. We help you find these bridge roles.
Family & life
How long does it take to find housing?
Most newcomers secure permanent housing within 2–6 weeks of arrival. Short-term landing accommodation is available from day one through our network.
Can my spouse find work too?
Spousal employment matching is included in our standard service. ~85% of working-age spouses are employed within 90 days of arrival.
What about schools for my kids?
We help you enrol kids before you arrive. Most Alberta schools accept applications year-round.
